Colorado corona virus latest numbers: 9NEWS Updates

COVID-19 – It is in our community.

Do you need to Self-Quarantine/Isolate/practice Social Distancing? ...YES!

Often beginning as sniffles/mild cough SARS-CoV-2{virus} or COVID-19{Illness} presents much like the common cold or “flu like”…… much like last year…
However, this year the illness is much more likely to develop into pneumonia, more so for those in the “at risk community*”.
If you are not “at risk” chance of complications from the infection is much reduced - more than ½ have mild symptoms and quickly recover.

Please consider that if you have or suspect any of the following symptoms…

    • Sniffles
    • Fever – over 100.4 F – anytime in the last 24hrs
    • Body aches
    • Cough – may be very mild early on
    • Shortness Of Breath (SOB) – if this develops or worsens Seek Medical Attention - GET TESTED!
    • Chest pain, high fever or persistent N/V – if this develops or worsens Seek Medical Attention - GET TESTED!
      • CDC Testing Guidelines: until you know results, assume you are sick and take precautions... in office blood testing now available.
    • Typical incubation 2-14 days

Even if mild… it’s highly likely that you are sick!

<<<< please limit your contact with others >>>>

As a precaution, and for the safety of others please call the office first and let us know about any symptoms before coming in.

In the meantime, begin to Treat Yourself as if you had a common cold or flu – Viral !!!

  • Voluntary - Quarantine/Isolate/Practice Social distancing
  • Bed rest – bundle up, sweat it out and – SLEEP!
  • Stay hydrated  - water and teas preferred – add pinch of salt/lemon to help maintain electrolytes
  • Hot Shower for steam, lubricate the lungs, warms chills
  • Light foods as desired/tolerated, limit alcohol/intoxicants

Once you are symptom free for 24-48 hours it is generally safe to slowly reintegrate. Although, try to limit contact with at risk populations for 2 weeks - early reports suggest some may be possibly contagious for up to 5 weeks post recovery.

As of Mid-March 2020, new cases in countries of initial outbreak are falling.

NOTE: Virus has been reported to survive 30 minutes to a few hours on surfaces, longer on skin. Please wash hands often and stop touching your face… masks are only useful to slow spread NOT protect against receipt of the Virus …it thrives on wet mucus membranes think your nose, mouth and eyes.

Please remember that the flu is also going around - generally having more body aches and fewer respiratory symptoms… early on.

Please self-isolate NOW If you are considered “at risk” (*underlying health issues including but not limited to: Respiratory Distress, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Lung Disease, Kidney Disease, Compromised Immune System) - Note: studies suggest Overweight and Obesity - increases COVID morbidity and ALL RISK accordingly. If this list includes you, limit your interactions with people as best you can for the next few weeks and be sure to check in with theJefferson County Dept of Health, CO-Dept Health, CDC for updates.
